The Red Shed Film Festival Results are In!

Thank you so much for a great inaugural Red Shed Film Festival! We had a fantastic time dining al fresco on incredible food from Wally's Blackburn Bistro, enjoying Twin Lights soda in downtown Rockport, just like Rockporters did a generation ago. Festival-goers gathered under the tent to view selected short films from Cape Ann filmmakers. The films ran the spectrum, from comedy to documentary. The audience voted for their favorite film following the screening. The votes have been counted and the Peoples' Choice Awards go to:

1st: A Rocky Neck Legacy by Henry Ferrini
followed closely by
2nd: "Battle for the Fate of the Dawn at the Edge of the Universe in Space" by Matthew Morris
and a tie for
3rd:
"The Good Harbor Seal" by Kim Smith
"The Town of Rockport" by Lauren Yamin
A huge thank you to the filmmakers for sharing their work with us, to Wally's Bistro, Twin Lights soda, to Phil Hopkins of The Film Detective, to Darren Mason and Kylie Alexander for working on the the graphics and to Henry Cooper and Michael Kelly of Granite Vision Video Production for their work in making the Red Shed Film Festival a reality.

Motif No. 1 Day Kickoff Features a New Film!

Leslie D. Bartlett, photographer, writer & historian, has put together a new film on Motif No. 1, the premier of which will kick off the 2011 Motif No. 1 Day festival.

Big Week for Rockport Festivals!

Wednesday, May 19th at 7pm
Local author Paul St. Germain, part of the Author Series co-sponsored by Rockport Public Library & Toadhall Bookstore, with his book Twin Lights of Thacher Island, Cape Ann. Located at the Rockport Public Library.

Thursday, May 20th All Day
DineAround at Brackett's Oceanview Restaurant. This fundraiser is sponsored by the Inns of Rockport, with proceeds going to Rockport Festivals & the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce. Enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner at the newly-renovated Brackett's Oceanview Restaurant in downtown Rockport knowing that 20% of the proceeds will go toward Rockport events.

Friday, May 21st from 5 - 7 pm
Art & Flowers Gala Reception at the Rockport Art Association. Enjoy the arrangements created by local floral designers and inspired by the paintings & photographs of RAA members. This is always a lovely event complete with wine and hors d'oeuvres. Proceeds from this ticketed event go toward supporting the RAA's educational programs. Located at the Rockport Art Association.

Friday, May 21st from 7 - 8 pm
Motif No. 1 on Film: The Kickoff to Motif No. 1 Day! Archival film footage from the collection of Mr. Pierce Sears, owner of Twin Lights beverages. This is a perfect way to begin Rockport's annual celebration of Motif No. 1. This event is free & open to the public. Stop by and enjoy some vintage images of Rockport on film as well as Twin Lights soda, sponsored by Twin Lights beverages & Dogtown Productions (with popcorn provided by the Rockport store R3 Sons). Located at the Old Firehouse Trust in downtown Rockport, near Dock Square.

Saturday, May 22nd: Motif No. 1 Day!
