HarvestFest Highlight: Buddha and Bagpipes

Harvey Park will play host to a variety of activities at the 2010 HarvestFest, one of which is the annual WOCA Fair.  WOCA stands for "What's On Cape Ann" and features community organizations, non-profits and festival sponsors showcasing what they have to offer residents and visitors.

One of the organizations in this year's WOCA Fair is the beloved New Year's Rockport Eve, an annual family-oriented event taking place every New Year's eve with music and entertainment at multiple locations throughout town.  NYRE will host a food booth in Harvey Park with proceeds going to support the event.

Other organizations include Sandy Bay Preschool, The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, and The Asian Classics Institute-Cape Ann (which is where Buddha comes in).  Students from Rockport high school's DECA Club will also be at the WOCA Fair, selling tickets to a fundraiser to support Children's Hospital of Boston.

And right next to the WOCA Fair, festival-goers can enjoy the classic sounds of the Rockport Legion Band playing in Harvey Park from 2pm to 3:30pm.  The Rockport Legion Band is one of the sounds of summer in Rockport, as they play concerts every Sunday night in the bandstand at Back Beach.  It's a treat to be able to hear them again at HarvestFest, long after their regular season has ended.  And this year the Legion Band has invited some special guests to the festival: The Creagan More Pipes, a bagpipe band who will join the Legion Band for the last half-hour of their set.

So we cover it all, from bagpipes to buddha.  At Harvestfest there really will be something for everyone!
